The way because they`r different its because teenagers normally abbreviate their text messages but old people do not because maybe is not their “style” or the`r too grown for text abbreviation,and some teenager use words when their speaking that old people don`t use, because they will say” that is not that is not the formal way to speak “,but young people when they speak they know what  their saying . If  it is spoken language  many people by listening to you speaking can explain your age and where you from (area).Agenda-setting is a formal way to set a topic in a determinate space of time e.g How was your day?.
